Making procrastination an art form

Well, a couple more part-ex offers came in this week, but still nothing that really grabs me. One was for a relatively basic Holden Commodore — a V6, but with surprisingly little power at just 203bhp. Given that this car is rebadged as the Monaro in the UK, I was expecting more. Even then, it's too big and heavy for my liking. The second offer was a Boxster, but its owner (I suspect it's a dealer) gave so little info that I had no way of knowing which advert it was on Pistonheads. And they've not responded to my request for more info, so sod 'em.

Truth be told, I've spent most of the week lusting after that yellow S2000. But it's just too damned expensive. I could stretch myself to get it, but I know the depreciation would be heart-breaking — it's already lost £10k in its first 2 years of life. As a final nail in its coffin, I only realised a day or two back that the current-gen S2000 gets a measly 3.5 stars out of 5 in the Knowledge section of Evo. That's really not good enough. As much as it pains me, I might just have to cross the S2000 off my list altogether. Pity — there's plenty of them about to choose from and prices are ok. Oh well.

To help me stay focussed, I've put together a spreadsheet containing all the cars I pseudo-reviewed (with the exception of the Legnum) and a few more besides. Now, instead of going back to Evo and Pistonheads all day, I seem to spend my time changing the criteria on which that list's sorted. He he. It's interesting and all that, but I'll be happy when I no longer need to do it. I guess it's just a matter of waiting for the right car to come on the market, in the right location and with an owner who'd settle for a Cooper S.

Or I could drop the price on the Mini so much that someone buys it outright. I might drop it another £250, but sadly I've got some serious local competition at the moment. Hopefully, it'll be off the market soon. Hell, even a dealer would take it off their hands at that price. Fingers crossed they do, cos it's making me look expensive! :-/
